Description:

Claims Specialist II is responsible for preparing, filing and following up on all FHA, GSE, VA, MI, and investor claims timely and accurately according to investor/insurer guidelines. They must perform all tasks associated with the claims process, from initial claims filing, to final loan liquidation, to file audit/reconciliation post liquidation. The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring proper adherence to Investor and Insurer policies, procedures, and timeframes in order to minimize risk, preserve and protect collateral, and limit loan related expenses.

Requirements:

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare and file all FHA, VA, PMI, and investor claims timely and accurately according to investor/insurer guidelines and requirements.
  • Perform a loan level reconciliation for all final claim proceeds between the amount claimed, the amount paid, and the outstanding loan indebtedness including all escrow and corporate advances.
  • Prepare and file supplemental claims as needed, obtaining supporting documentation from the foreclosure, loss mitigation and/or bankruptcy specialist(s).
  • Coordinate with the Escrow Department to verify taxes and insurance are maintained, are paid timely, and canceled/endorsed according to investor/insurer guidelines.
  • Documents all loan-level efforts into the Foreclosure Workstation in MSP.
  • Complete timely audits of all assigned claims to ensure all requirements have been met and claims process can be validated.
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned by Claims Department Supervisor or other management.

Position Qualifications

  • Extensive working knowledge of the foreclosure and claims processes and workflows
  • Freddie Mac experience Required
  • Knowledge of FHA, GNMA, FNMA, FHLMC, MI, and various other investor/insurer foreclosure and claims requirements
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Word processing and spreadsheets, data entry, PC input, etc.)
  • Familiarity with Investors’ and PMI practices
  • Residential and consumer product knowledge
  • Loan servicing knowledge (investor, default, escrow, payoff, cashiering, ARM, etc.)
  • Effective negotiating skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Goal oriented
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a business-related field or a combination of education and required minimum experience in a collection call center/customer service/mortgage servicing environment.
