Boehringer Ingelheim is currently seeking a talented and innovative Intern to join our Chemical Development department located at our Ridgefield, CT facility. As a Co-op, you will contribute to a team which aims to develop a Pharma 4.0 approach revolutionizing the transfer from laboratory to production using advanced data-rich experimentation and computing technologies.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Research and Develop state-of-the-art Machine Learning Models for computational chemistry problems
  • Develop pipelines to utilize public datasets to improve the performance of the Machine Learning based models and validate models using either public datasets or internally generated data
  • Survey literature on deep learning models for the design of small-molecule compounds using graph-based or self-supervised learning approaches
Requirements:
  • Must be a current undergraduate, graduate or advanced degree student in good academic standing.
  • Student must be enrolled at a college or university for the duration of the internship.
  • Overall cumulative minimum GPA from last completed quarter/semester 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) preferred.
  • Major or minor in related field of internship
  • Undergraduate students must have completed at least 12 credit hours at current college or university.
  • Graduate and advanced degree students must have completed at least 9 credit hours at current college or university.
Desired Experience, Skills and Abilities:
  • Strong experience in Python programming
  • Strong experience working with cheminformatics packages likes RDkit, MarvinSketch, JChem, DeepChem
  • Experience with Generative Models like Variational Autoencoders and/or Transformer architecture
  • Familiarity with multivariate modeling, chemometrics modeling, and statistical analysis is a plus
  • Able to work in a multidisciplinary team, i.e., chemical engineering, chemistry, analytical chemistry.
  • Desire for an excellent understanding of the scientific methodology and good documentation practices, good verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work across cultures
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
  • Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
