Chart Prep Clerk

This key position is with Brown Surgical Associates (BSA) which is one of Rhode Island’s largest multidisciplinary surgical groups and a founding member of BPI. Our 50+ surgeons are recognized for their experience in highly specialized areas of surgery.

In this role, you will function as the Chart Prep Clerk and report to the practice manager. You will:

  • Work with physicians, secretarial and clinical staff to facilitate patient-centered care. You must display proficiency using computer software, electronic medical records, and practice management systems; and conduct yourself in a professional manner.
  • Review patient charts for any missing reports or paperwork and follows through to obtain all necessary studies and test results; and communicate with other medical offices and hospitals to obtain relevant patient medical records necessary for the visit.
  • Prepare patient charts in a timely and accurate manner prior to the office visit verifying that all necessary paperwork, test results, imaging studies and pathology reports are available for the scheduled appointment. Check daily for add-ons for current day’s appointments and next day appointments, electronically prepares chart and acquires all needed records prior to scheduled appointment time.
  • Other duties, as assigned by the practice manager.


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

  • High school diploma required.
  • Experience in a medical office setting required.
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical record system. Medical terminology required.
  • Follows HIPAA guidelines regarding confidentiality of patients’ health information and handling of patients’ health information.
  • Ability to walk, sit, and stand for long periods of time, ability to lift to 20 pounds.
