Certified Payroll / Accounting Assistant

Watson Civil Construction is a heavy/highway contractor working throughout Florida specializing in large site infrastructure, underground, and road work. We are a dynamic and rapidly growing company that is currently seeking a Certified Payroll / Accounting Assistant in our St. Augustine World Golf Village office. This position will provide certified payroll and a wide variety of accounting support to the Accounting department.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

• 
  Ensure federal Davis-Bacon Act and Service Contract Act compliance to create weekly certified payroll reports
• Maintain, organize, and review payroll records, reports, and documents both physically and electronically
• Review pay records to ensure compliance with prevailing wage requirements
• Identify and reconcile discrepancies for prevailing wage/certified payroll
• Review, analyze, create and file certified payrolls with supporting documentation from subcontractors
• Prepare and maintain accurate records along with the calculation of fringe benefits, prevailing wages, and certified payroll reports to ensure compliance
• Coordinate with government and subcontractor representatives to ensure certified payrolls are accurate and filed on time
• Assist with Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable accounting functions
• Aid in the reconciliation of the general ledger and other month and year-end standard practices
• Support the Controller and Assistant Controller
• Backup the Payroll Specialist when necessary
• Perform other general accounting duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• 
  2 years experience preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft (Outlook, Word, Excel). Knowledge of Spectrum software is preferred
• Superior organizational skills and proactive in anticipating business needs
• Self-motivated. Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team
• Requires minimal instruction on day-to-day work.
• Detail-oriented and quality conscious

Pay and Benefits:

• 
  $17.00 - $21.00 per hour

Construction and FDOT experience are a plus.
