The Exeter Health Center, located in Falls, PA. is a Family Practice physician office providing health care to the local community. We are looking for a Certified Medical Assistant that can work both the clerical and clinical duties of a medical office practice. Candidate must be able to multi task and have a good clinical and clerical background. This is a full-time position with full benefits.

General Description:

This multi-skilled healthcare professional interacts with and supports other healthcare professionals and the front office providing a variety of clinical and clerical duties. This position requires Phlebotomy.

Education, Training and Experience:

(Qualifications): High school diploma and training as medical office assistant, current PA driver’s license required; certification preferred. Knowledge of medical and business office procedures and medical terminology and basic knowledge of ICD coding required. Non-invasive medical office procedures required; Prior experience preferred. Current CPR and AED certified. Clinical and Nursing skills, infection control, medication administration, health promotion and maintenance. Current CPR and AED certified. Knowledge of patient/health evaluation, examination and assessment, histories, nutrition, lifespan development, anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, pharmacology, specimen collection; treatments, care, and procedures performed in clinic, data collection, documentation, EMR, patient education, etc.

Knowledge of Per-Authorizations for patients with insurance companies. Process referrals and/or patient information for primary care physicians, specialists, HMO’s and other ordered services and tests.

Scan operative, ancillary and other reports and results in charts, records and runs reports via EHR.

Assist in daily pulling, filing and recurrent maintenance of patient charts.

Perform duties of medical secretary:

Greet patients, Schedule/cancel/follow up on no shows and reschedule any appointments, Follow check in and check out procedures, Answer phone in a courteous and professional manner, screen and route calls, take messages and assist with basic non-pharmaceutical; Remove phones from service and place on service in accordance with established hours of operation; Retrieve records, type, file, fax, photocopy, post mail, as required.

Open and process incoming mail and faxes; Match reports and results with patient EMR and send to appropriate provider.

Abstract and complete transfers of medical records; obtain appropriate signatures for release of medical records according to policy.

Attempt to collect account balances and collect payments for co pays and other payments at time of service; record payments on daily sheet; prepare bank slips; handle petty cash.

Reconcile daily activities at end of day and forward to Main Office.

Assist in the care and maintenance of office equipment.

Clinical: Blood draws required.

Prepare exam rooms; gather supplies; assist in cleaning equipment and exam rooms.

Greet and triage patients, take vital signs, escort patients to exam room, update patient demographics, histories and primary and secondary insurance information; assist with procedures.

Prepare specimens for laboratory testing, perform laboratory tests done at center and maintain laboratory, stock items, supplies and equipment.

Send refills to pharmacy.

Assist with computer data entry for Patient Electronic Care System.

Enter annual recalls, immunizations, pre-natal tracking, EPSDT Screening Forms, etc.; schedule appointments for return visits as ordered by physician.

Perform any tasks necessary for an audit of medical records.

Prepare patients for exams; assist in procedures and emergencies.

Give injections, perform office tests such as EKG, pulmonary functions, throat cultures, rapid strep tests, urine dips, pulse oximetry, vision and audiometric screening, hemocult testing and control testing as needed, etc.; perform wound care, chronic care training, crutch and walker training and collect and process samples.

Provide new patient orientation as specified.

Notify patient of non-covered services and obtain patient signature for Medicare or Medical assistance Notification of Responsibility.

Assist with obtaining prior authorizations when necessary.

Search EMR for procedure and diagnosis codes; demonstrate competence in coding, billing, referrals, third party guidelines, reimbursement, claim submission and managed care guidelines.

Offers support to patients and co-workers.

Adhere to Universal Health Standards.

Sterilize equipment.

Restock supplies and equipment.

Maintain safe, secure and healthy work environment and environment of care.

Maintain professional and technical knowledge via workshops, webinars, professional publications, etc.

Perform other duties within capabilities as assigned by supervisor or executive staff.

Adhere to all personnel policies in the conduct of personal and employment matters.
