Job Description:

Principle Responsibilities

• Provides clinical care for patients
  • Completes comprehensive patient assessments.
  • Determines diagnosis and treatment of illness.
  • Orders and interprets medical diagnostics in tandem with attending physician.
  • Prescribes medications, treatments, therapy and medical equipment.
  • Conducts patient education when working to manage chronic illness or wellness care.
  • Refers for specialty care when determined.
  • Consults with physician when patient needs outside of Physician Assistant scope of practice, diagnosis or treatment plan is unclear.
• Participates in health care team
  • Promotes communication within the team and other interdisciplinary health care staff.
  • Acts as resource to members of the team.
  • Collaborates with hospital staff by consulting and rounding on patients.
  • Works with primary care team for program development.
  • Participates in research activities when opportunity available.
  • Acts as liaison with outside agencies as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Master's degree completion of accredited Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program required.
• At least one year of experience post Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant training preferred.
• Certification as a Physician Assistant - NCCPA -National Commission Certification of Physician Assistants upon hire required or Certified Nurse Practitioner (ANCC) - American Nurse Credentialing Center or(AANP American Association for Nurse Practitioners required upon hire.
• Licensed Registered Nurse - MN Board of Nursing required upon hire (NP candidates)
• Active MN NP/PA license (or ability to obtain)
• BLS certification required with in 180 days of hire
• Ability to obtain and/or maintain MN DEA certification and National Provider Identifier (NPI)
• Ability to meet criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and hospital privileges.
