Responsibilities
The Cancer Care Navigator utilizes his/her oncology-specific clinical knowledge as he/she offers individualized assistance to patients, families, and caregivers to help overcome healthcare system barriers. Using the nursing process, the Cancer Care Navigator provides education and resources to facilitate informed decision making and timely access to quality health and psychosocial care throughout all phases of the cancer continuum. In addition, he/she serves as a key representative of the McGlinn Cancer Institute to the community, promoting healthy lifestyle choices for cancer prevention and ongoing surveillance and screening for early detection.
