Overview: The Cafeteria Attendant is responsible for providing the best experience to our associates with the support of the Executive Chef and Culinary Team and assuring the quality of food and presentation. Duties of this position include but are not limited to maintaining control of the food quality in the associate cafeteria and following all processes in place. The Cafeteria Attendant must possess the ability to learn can, multitask, and complete projects in a timely manner. They should demonstrate exceptional customer service and problem-solving skills. Organizational and communication skills are essential attributes for this position as well as the ability to focus on the customer and adapt to changes while maintaining quality and a good productivity.



Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization of assigned work areas.
  • Check supply levels in storage closets, complete requisitions for additional supplies needed, and submit them to the manager.
  • Check workstations for proper supplies, organization, cleanliness, and mechanical problems. Instruct designated personnel to rectify any deficiencies.
  • Responsible for cafeteria housekeeping and maintenance.
  • Optimize and maintain foodstuff and material inventories to meet all cafeteria needs.
  • Health and sanitation code requirements must be met at all times.
  • Develop and implement strategies for the Cafeteria aligned with the hotel’s F&B objectives.
  • Create a good working atmosphere for associates through communication skills and reinforcement.
  • Assist in any BOH area when needed.
  • Do inventory counts whenever needed and maintain a par level of stock.

Must be able to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy; prioritize, organize, and follow-up; be a clear thinker, remaining calm and resolving problems using good judgment; follow directions thoroughly; understand a guest’s service needs; work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team; work with minimal supervision; maintain the confidentiality of guest information and pertinent hotel data.


Language:
Required to speak, read and write English, with fluency in other languages preferred.


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to exert physical effort in transporting 20 pounds, endure various physical movements throughout the work areas, reach up and down, remain stationary throughout work periods, and satisfactorily communicate with guests and co-workers to their understanding.
  • Kitchen Environment - constantly exposed to heat, high cold, slippery surfaces and appliances such as stove, oven, dishwasher, cooking top, and housekeeping and cleaning tools.


Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Some College or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
  • Must have a current and valid Food Handler’s Certification.


Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of culinary experience in kitchen operations and food service.
  • Hotel operational exposure (i.e., Culinary) preferred
  • Experience with a luxury or ultra-luxury property or brand preferred


The pay scale for this position is between $19.00 and $19.50/hour. This is the pay range for this position that the Hotel reasonably expects to pay.
