Moffatt & Nichol is actively seeking a junior level CAD Technician to join our Baton Rouge office. This individual will draft and revise detail drawings using AutoCAD and/or MicroStation for use in planning, permitting, reports, and various construction documents. Projects range from structural infrastructure in the areas of ports and harbors, coastal, environmental, water resources, urban waterfronts and marinas to transportation bridges, rail, and buildings.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Transform initial rough designs and mark-ups into finished working documents.
  • Draft detailed drawings of structures and installations such as cargo terminals, marinas, wharfs, bulkhead walls and coastal structures (beaches, revetments, breakwaters and jetties.)
  • Review engineering drawings to ensure adherence to established standards.
  • Compute volumes of excavations and fill for dredging and earthmoving projects.
  • Assist designers and senior technicians with preparation of engineering drawing packages.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or equivalent in relevant discipline
  • 2 or more years of related experience
  • AutoCAD
  • MicroStation
  • Knowledge of material properties
  • Understanding and application of CAD standards
  • Good numeracy, geometry, and computer skills
  • Understanding of construction methods
  • All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Physical Requirements

Work is generally performed in an office or client office setting. Ability to use standard office equipment is required. Travel will be required.
