Currently, ManTech is seeking a motivated, career and customer-oriented Cable Technician to join our team in Ft. Meade, MD . In this role, you will provide the provisioning, installation, design, termination, testing, documentation, operations, and maintenance of all types of IT cabling.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Able to read drawings to establish correct wiring/cable runs.
Able to assist in running cables for building or racking of equipment or other cabling services , w ith minimal assistance, install cabling from transport/wiring closets to the customer access outlet.
Install cabling both under floor and above the ceiling in cable trays, troughs, wiring baskets, harnesses, and J hooks .
Perform cable management in racks and termination shelves.
Successfully terminate various types of copper connectors.
Able to discuss pathways, spaces, bonding and grounding and firestopping .
Able to choose the correct tool or methodology for specific cabling tasks.
NOTE: Multiple levels of seniority are available dependent on qualifications/experience.
Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of experience in IT cable installation and termination.
Areas of knowledge must include physical ability to lift 50 pounds, cable termination, testing, cable rack preparation, layout and installation, and documentation.
BICSI Installer 1 certification required. 2 years of additional experience may be substituted for the certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A valid BICSI Installer 2, Copper or Installer 2, Optical Fiber certification
- Provide team leadership, engineering, and design knowledge to meet technical specifications.
- In-Depth knowledge of termination equipment, methodologies, and splicing techniques.
Security Clearance Requirements:
Current/Active TS/SCI with Polygraph
Physical Requirements:
Sedentary work, speaking, standing, talking, walking, working with computers, working with data, working with numbers and figures, ability to handle stress & work under pressure, ability to use MS Office and a PC, analytical or critical thinking skills, leadership and listening skills, multi-tasking, ability, negotiating skills, oral & written communication skills, presentation skills, project management ability and skills, computer operating skills, and team building skills .
