This is a residential, seasonal position at a summer camp. Cabin Leaders are generally young adults between the ages of 18-25 years. Commitment dates are May 29 - August 11 with most weekends and the week of July 4th off. Weekly pay starts at $340/week and includes lodging, meals, and a paid training time. Additional scholarship opportunities are available to college students.

Staff live in inclusive, authentic Christian community. They will serve various age groups including youth, families, and adults with developmental disabilities.

GENERAL STAFF (CABIN LEADER) JOB DESCRIPTION

Supervision and Communication

  • Supervised by the Camp Director for programming, personnel and other issues. Works closely with other General Staff and Program Leader in assigned program.

Responsibilities: Program Services

  • Provide leadership, care and support to campers each program session, in order to encourage a positive Christian experience in an organized camp setting
  • Stay overnight in cabin or tree house with cabin group as assigned
  • Meet the weekly program goals for the age group, utilizing the many program components and natural resources of the camp sites
  • Encourage full participation in camp events by each of the campers under your supervision
  • Provide small group leadership during Bible Study, cabin devotions, and cabin events, ensuring the safety of campers participating in of the experience at all times
  • Lead program by sharing skills in arts and crafts, nature activities, waterfront, canoeing, and many other regular camp activities
  • Lead events such as overnights, canoe trips, service projects, worship, campfires, and other activities
  • Provide guidance to campers, support their emotional and social difficulties
  • Serve as Day Camp Team Member providing program leadership in congregational settings when assigned

Responsibilities: Involvement in the Camp Community

  • Be a positive role model for your cabin group and all other campers
  • Support the spiritual care of the camp community
  • Be open to the Holy Spirit and be a leader and example of Christian faith in action towards God’s creation and others
  • Pray for the ministry of the camp, its people, and its camping staff
  • Nurture faith through hospitality
  • Participate in all staff training events
  • Attend all staff meetings
  • Assist in camp clean up, behind-the-scenes preparations, cleaning & sanitizing, and any other program support as assigned
  • Assist with kitchen dishes, mealtime preparations, & after meal clean up
  • Be involved in daily chores, often with your cabin group
  • Take care of your personal needs, i.e., get adequate sleep, eat proper foods, notify the Camp Director when ill or injured, encourage good physical and emotional habits
  • Respect the needs for personal privacy within the staff community while sharing fully in group events

Responsibilities: Health and Safety

  • Abide by and follow FLLC Personal Conduct Policies, Policies on Sexual Harassment & Abuse, and Risk Management Policies
  • Know, communicate, and uphold the FLLC Safety Program
  • Uphold the COVID-19 Camper & Staff Protocols and instruct campers to do the same
  • Monitor camp for hazards and work to maintain a safe environment for campers and staff
  • Make the Camp Director aware of any unsafe situations
