Zero Zone is a manufacturer of reach-in and open refrigerated and frozen food display cases as well as the refrigeration systems that work behind the scenes to cool the cases, keeping the food fresh! We also make powerful industrial refrigeration systems for food warehousing, pharmaceuticals, and even ice rinks!
Our company is structured across 2 divisions – the Display Case Division, located in North Prairie, WI, Waukesha, WI, Pewaukee, WI and Mukwonago, WI and the Refrigeration Systems Division, located in Ramsey, MN and Dyersville, IA.

What Will You Do?
Under the guidance and direction of the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer will purchase parts, equipment, and supplies at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, delivery as well as other factors leading to successful operations of the organization. This position will prepare bid specifications, receive bids and make purchases of goods where the financial impact is limited. The Buyer will also be responsible for maintaining system parameters on all assigned commodities to control inventory levels, reduce excessive transactions, make economical order quantity decisions, and avoid stock outs. The Buyer will be an integral part of a team where a high level of responsiveness and follow-through is required. The following are the essential duties and responsibilities you can expect to do:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create purchase orders for quantity, quality, and delivery requirements where prices have usually been preset. Assigned commodities will generally be standard purchased or clearly defined customer requirements
- Review MRP demand daily to ensure all demand is met and supply meets demand requirements
- Analyze product usage historically and forward looking to determine Plan For Every Part
- Expedite shipments when required to ensure parts arrive to meet demand requirements
- Assist Inventory Control Specialist with returning defective and over stock merchandise to vendors for credit
- Maintain required inventory levels of raw materials used for production based on determined stocking levels and fluctuations in the production schedule
- Negotiate with suppliers regarding low impact pricing and availability issues
- Communicate supplier changes regarding pricing and availability affecting high impact materials to supply chain management
- Submit RFQ’s for new products and for existing commodities as requested by supply chain management
- Responsible for plant inventory levels for all assigned commodities
- Perform job functions to meet corporate KPI’s and company vision
- In conjunction with accounting, process supplier invoices that do not auto match
- Cross train in other Purchasing Department positions to assist during absences
- Identify opportunities, analyze data, and offer improvement solutions
- Other duties may be assigned
What Are We Looking For?

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required of you for this position:
- Bachelor’s Degree or an Associate’s degree with APICS certification
- Two (2) plus years of related experience is required
- Previous OEM manufacturing experience is preferred
- Experience working in a business system (ERP) is preferred
- Must have working knowledge of JIT, MRP and accounting impact to income statement and balance sheet accounts
- High working knowledge of MS Office: Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Highly organized and detail oriented individual
- Enjoy working in a fast-paced responsive environment
- Excellent verbal, interpersonal and written communication skills
- Self-starter, motivated, and strong willed who works independently or as a leader
