The Fastener Solutions business unit of Avery Dennison is a worldwide manufacturer of plastic fastening systems used in the automotive, apparel, retail, industrial and packaging industries. Our three-shift injection molding and extrusion operation is located in Fitchburg, MA. The Fastener Solutions business unit is ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 certified.
About your role
Avery Dennison is seeking a Business Development Manager, Retail & Industrial to join the Fasteners organization. This role is responsible for driving growth within our Retail and Industrial business at current and new customers. In this role, you will own the specification of products at retail and industrial brand owners as well as the recommendation, selection, and closure of business at the manufacturing level.
Your responsibilities will include:
Activities may include, but are not limited to:
- Own the development of new business at retail and industrial brand owners and key packaging partners in North America.
- Own specification of FSD products at retail brand owners for global implementation.
- Provide target retail brand owners and key packaging partners with product recommendations and technical support on their application needs.
- Work with the commercial team on prospecting new customers and new opportunities.
- Own and maintain a Salesforce.com pipeline from entry to close that supports the growth needed to deliver our annual operating plan and deliver key metrics.
- Provide input and mentorship on new tag attaching and packaging products to add to our portfolio to generate accelerated growth.
- Work with product manager to ensure appropriate product portfolio and positioning for each sub-segment
- Develop and conduct product training for external customers
- Develop strategic and tactical/business plans which effectively lead to the development of new retail and industrial sales
- Scan external technology environment for strategic alliances, business partners, potential joint venture partners, ideas, concepts, and new technologies.
- Actively participate in the Strategic and AOP planning processv
What we will be looking for in you:
- 5+ years related business experience, including sales and marketing.
- Shown expertise in retail and packaging business industry preferred.
- Ability to generate support and excitement among an informal, cross-functional team in a matrixed organization.
- Experience with product development and product commercialization processes.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Strong teamwork and relationship building skills.
- Strong customer focus and orientation.
- Frequent travel is required
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required, MBA preferred.
