FUNCTION & SCOPE:
The New York Small Business Development Center (NYSBDC) provides small business owners and entrepreneurs in New York with the highest quality, free and confidential business counseling, training, and business research. We provide expert management and technical assistance to start-up and existing businesses across the state. The New York SBDC is administered by State University of New York (SUNY) and The Research Foundation for SUNY (RF) and funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration, the State of New York, and host campuses. The Brockport SBDC provides small business advice and counseling for entrepreneurs in Genesee, Orleans, Monroe, Ontario, and Wayne Counties.
DUTIES:
Provide one-on-one counseling to the center's small business clients in areas including small business start-up requirements, recordkeeping, marketing, and other small business concerns. The center's director determines case standards and review.
Assist in Developing the organization's website
Orchestrate and develop content for marketing aspects utilizing organization's website and social media platforms
Participate and/or present in small business training sessions and workshops.
Ongoing contact development and networking responsibilities.
Other duties as assigned by the center's director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university AND its equivalent required; three (3) years' experience business consulting, small business management, or managerial consulting, which must include business and marketing plan development, financial analysis, and financing options.
Demonstrated experience related to economic or entrepreneurial development.
Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with audiences of varied knowledge and expertise.
Demonstrated skills in developing websites and utilizing social media platforms for marketing purposes
Strong computer skills with working knowledge of MS Office software, particularly Excel and Word.
Ability to work with a culturally and ethnically diverse clientele.
Valid NYS driver's license and access to reliable transportation.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Demonstrated ability to produce basic financial projections (Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow)
Demonstrated experience working with a culturally and ethnically diverse population
Demonstrated public speaking experience
