It is an exciting time right now as we expand our teams in North America. As part of this expansion, we are looking to recruit a Picture Editor for our new primetime evening and weekend news coverage. Based in Washington DC, you will bring the latest in international breaking news and headlines to worldwide audiences on our news channel.
Main ResponsibilitiesAs Picture Editor you will need to bring experience of creating television output by assessing material against productions’ editorial and presentation requirements. You will edit the available material to meet these requirements and transmission, publishing or production deadlines and the professional standards required by the BBC.
Working with Senior Journalists & Journalists you will be part of a team looking to bring more transparency to our journalism, and redefine and reimagine the relationship between digital and linear news.
The Picture Editor will be based full time in Washington, DC and work nights (until midnight) every night including weekends when scheduled. Occasionally output will be shown on other BBC networks.
Are you the right candidate?- Comprehensive knowledge of craft editing and television production techniques.
- Knowledge of transmission procedures and talkback techniques.
- Experience in recording and transmitting pictures and sound in all broadcast formats.
- Understanding of the systems that support edit platforms e.g. OpenMedia, Jupiter and File Transfer.
