Job Summary:

The Body Shop Technician is knowledgeable in the field of auto body repair and possesses the necessary skills to perform related repairs and custom refinishing according to the manufacturer's specifications. Body Shop Technicians fix damaged bodies and body parts of automotive vehicles such as cars, vans, trucks, buses, campers, and trailers.

This position is not ‘remote work’ capable and requires punctual, consistent, and regular attendance for all scheduled shifts. Missed work affects the day-to-day operations of the company. This in turn negatively impacts fellow employees through lowered morale and / or lost income opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Job duties for the Body Shop Technician include but are not limited to:

  • Acts as a goodwill ambassador for the dealership by promoting professionalism and displaying excellent customer satisfaction skills.
  • Uses basic body repair skills.
  • Straighten bent or twisted frames/weld metal parts.
  • Removes parts to gain access to vehicle body and inner structures.
  • Removes, repairs, or replaces fenders, doors, or other body parts.
  • Fills damaged areas with plastic body fillers.
  • Files, grinds, sands, and smooths filled or repaired surfaces.
  • Aims headlights and aligns wheels.
  • Technicians must be proficient in the use of many tools such as, pneumatic tools, metal-cutting, plasma cutters, heavy-duty hydraulic jacks and hammers.
  • Performs all duties in a safe manner following all company safety guidelines and policies.
  • Performs other duties as requested or required.

Qualifications:

Two years in a body shop environment as a body shop technician. Good communication skills, multi-tasking skills and computer skills preferred. I-car and ASE certifications required. Must have a valid driver license and clean driving record.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

The Body Shop Technician works indoors in the body shop, which is often noisy with some dust and paint fumes. Extended working hours may be required, which may include working at night time or weekends. Weather conditions may vary depending on the season. Body Shop Technicians may work in awkward and cramped positions, and the work can be physically demanding. This position may include heavy lifting. Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to move about the complex in all weather conditions and be able to enter and exit most types of vehicles.

Annual wages based on $22.00 to $26.00 per flag hour.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
