Job Title: ASC Billing Specialist
Reports To: Billing Manager
Location: Hybrid: Remote/Clinic (Las Colinas, Keller, Coppell, Ft Worth)

Summary:
The ASC Billing Specialist performs all related billing functions according to current practices, routine, and established procedures in a large volumn clinic setting. This professional is someone who understands the importance of diligent billing and monitoring of client accounts for the health and operations of a business. The Billing Specialist will supervise the revenue cycle department in various duties, such as account management, communications with insurance providers, collections, cash posting, contract analysis, and billing. This person must have experience with creating insurance claims, specialty claims (e.g., EAP’s, modifiers, etc.), and claims for different levels of care (e.g., self-pay non-insurance claims, outpatient insurance claims, and more intensive level of care insurance claims). They may be contacted by clients for billing statements, questions regarding billing, account summaries, and other related billing requests.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day billing and collections.
  • Ensures timely and accurate processing of claims received.
  • Reviews claims and claim denials to ensure proper reimbursement for services provided.
  • Performs routine reviews and audits to ensure accuracy and identify issues in Multispecialist, Orthopedics, GI and Pain facilities
  • Understands and applies current regulations for 3rd party payers and other compliance criteria.
  • Supervising the revenue cycle department in various duties, such as account management, communications with insurance providers, collections, cash posting, contract analysis, and billing.
  • Acts as a resource to all departments regarding billing questions and concerns.
  • Adhere to HIPAA policies, procedures, and regulations to ensure patient confidentiality.
  • Consistently work to improve billing practice policies.
  • Operates all related billing functions according to current practices, routine, and established procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be extremely well organized and demonstrate exceptional time management skills.
  • Must be able to prioritize assignments, follow up to ensure task completions, and manage multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated experience, certifications, or training in medical billing will be heavily preferred.
  • Able to work both independently and as a member of a team.

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma is required
  • A minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience in an ASC setting.
  • Coding experience
  • Facility billing experience
  • Experience with large volume facilty

Computer Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • EMR experience preferred.
