Open 7 days a week 6 am to 8 pm (summer time may close at 9pm)

We are looking for a 6 full-time Baristas (32-40 hours per week) and 2-3 part-time Baristas (20-30 per week) for our NEW! soon-to-open Cups Espresso Cafe & Harborside Market location in Port Orchard the Manchester Waterfront. This location is unique because it has Cups and Harborside Market sharing the space. Our Baristas will be also checking out Harborside Market customers.

Weekend & holiday availability REQUIRED. We are looking mostly for mid-shifts and closers (we will be closing at 8pm to start, but may adjust later to 9pm during the summers). All candidates will be expected to have some closing shifts and occasional open shifts regularly.

Our baristas prepare and serve hot and cold beverages as well as prepare sandwiches made-to-order and bake our sought after pastries. We are willing to train on espresso for the right candidate.

Baristas responsibilities for this location include educating customers on our drinks menu, making recommendations based on their preferences, up-selling special items, taking orders, preparing food, and keeping the shop clean and inviting. You will also be stocking market shelves, ringing up market customer orders, checking IDs for alcohol & tobacco products, and selling Lotto tickets.

To be successful in this role, you should have customer service skills and be able to obtain a food handler's permit. You should be able to work various shifts. Note: this position’s compensation includes salary + tips (our credit card tips average $6-7/hr). Ultimately, you’ll ensure an excellent dining experience for our guests.

Responsibilities

• Greet customers as they enter
• Give customers drink menus and answer their questions regarding ingredients
• Take orders while paying attention to details (e.g. preferences of coffee blend, dairy and sugar ratios)
• Prepare beverages and food orders following recipes
• Serve beverages and food, like cookies, pastries and muffins
• Some light baking
• Receive and process payments (cash and credit cards)
• Keep the bar area clean
• Maintain stock of clean dishes
• Maintain a clean and orderly environment
• Cleaning the restroom
• Scoop and serve ice cream
• Comply with health and safety regulations
• Communicate customer feedback to managers and recommend new menu items
• Ring up Harborside Market customer purchases
• Restock and merchandise market shelves & coolers
• Sell and redeem Lotto tickets
• Check IDs on alcohol & tobacco purchases

Skills

• Previous work experience as a Barista or Waiter/Waitress or Food Service
• Hands-on experience with brewing equipment
• Knowledge of sanitation regulations
• Flexibility to work various shifts including our busiest times of weekends and holidays
• Basic math skills
• Ability to gauge customers’ preferences
• Excellent communication skills
• High school diploma; relevant training is a plus

Pay: $16.00 - $16.99 per hour
