GENERAL DESCRIPTION

The essential function of the position within the organization is to repair and service city equipment, vehicles and tools.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

Perform repairs and routine maintenance on city vehicles and police vehicles.

Replace parts on vehicles and equipment.

Repair equipment as needed.

Service vehicles including oil changes, filters, air filters, wiper blades, rotate tires, etc.

Check and replace brake system parts including shoes, pads, rotors, etc.

Check and replace alternators or starters on motors.

Must have own set of tools.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Requires High School diploma, GED or vocational school education preferably in automotive education.

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Requires valid driver’s license.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Requires two years of related experience.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Requires light work involving standing or walking some of the time, exerting up to 20 pounds of force on a regular basis, and moderate dexterity in operating machinery, tools, or office equipment.

UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS:

The position is exposed to no unusual environmental hazards. May be exposed to extreme heat/cold, wet or humid conditions, bright/dim lights, dust or pollen, intense noise levels, vibration, fumes or noxious odors, moving mechanical parts, electrical shock, and traffic.

SENSORY (ADA) REQUIREMENTS:

The position may require normal visual acuity and field of vision, hearing, speaking, color perception, sense of taste, sense of smell, depth perception, or texture perception.
