Job Title: Auction House Manager

Location: FERNDALE MICHIGAN

Salary: $50,000 - $65,000 per year, including a commission plan for bringing in new business

Job Type: Full-time

Hours: 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend work (additional compensation provided)

About Us: Aaron's Estate Sales is a dynamic company specializing in estate sales and auctions. Our Block Auction House division focuses on providing high-quality auction services for high-end clients with valuable items. We are a team-oriented, high-energy, positive, and fun company, committed to delivering exceptional results for our clients.

We are currently seeking an experienced Auction House Manager to lead our Block Auction House division. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the auction house, building and managing a team, and helping us achieve our goal of hosting two auctions per month.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily operations of the auction house, including client relations, item intake, cataloging, researching, and managing online auction software
  • Oversee shipping of items, hiring and training staff, and coordinating with other divisions of Aaron's Estate Sales
  • Achieve the goal of hosting two auctions per month while ensuring all clients receive the promised level of service and care
  • Build and manage a team of 3-4 auction coordinators responsible for cataloging, moving items, research, and more
  • Market our services to probate attorneys and real estate agents to attract new business
  • Utilize platforms such as Liveauctioneers.com, Hibid.com, Wavebid.com, Gmail, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams to manage operations and communication
  • Conduct research on antiques, collectibles, art, and other valuable items to ensure accurate cataloging and pricing

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in the auction industry, specifically with online auctions and auction platforms like Liveauctioneers.com and Hibid.com
  • Business education or equivalent experience in auction house management
  • Experience researching antiques, collectibles, art, and other valuable items
  • Proficient in using computers and high competency in multitasking
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment without becoming easily overwhelmed
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building and managing a team
  • Background in marketing or business development
