Job Description:

USC Athletics is looking to hire an Art Director to join our staff and student community of 600+ individuals. This role is responsible for setting the brand guidelines and look for the entire athletic department, running a team of graphic designers who cover all 21 sports, assisting in marketing campaigns and social media content.

Additional requirements include leading the environmental designer on facility upgrades.

Reporting directly to the Chief Creative Officer, Jordan Moore, the Art Director will work in collaboration with the creative department, brands and communications, marketing, development, the teams and the administration. The ideal candidate will be an expert graphic designer who can produce still and motion designs dynamically and efficiently using the Adobe software suite. The candidate must also possess great leadership and communication skills as well as the ability to work well as part of a creative team. Knowledge of and experience working in higher education preferred. Understanding of the unique culture and needs of college athletics preferred.

This is a exempt position that is expected to work out of the office most days of the week, but can work from home occasionally. The Art Director can expect to work nights and weekends when needed to match the athletics event calendar.

Roles and responsibilities to include:

  • Create and uphold brand guidelines

  • Create a design look which refreshes annually

  • Lead a team of graphic designers which covers all 21 sports

  • Assist in marketing and social media campaigns

  • Promotes an environment that fosters inclusive relationships and creates unbiased opportunities for contributions through ideas, words, and actions that uphold principles of the USC Code of Ethics.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested. The University reserves the right to add or change duties at any time.

Salary Range:

The annual base salary range for this position is $80K- $100K. When extending an offer of employment, the University of Southern California considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, federal, state, and local laws, contractual stipulations, grant funding, as well as external market and organizational considerations.

Qualifications: •The ideal candidate will possess 5+ years working in college athletics design. Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education. •Proficient with Adobe software suite •Experience working in higher education and/or a sports related field ideal.
