Minimum Qualifications
Education: Medical Doctor or Doctorate of Philosophy
Licenses/Certifications: (None)
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Eight (8) or 10 years of increasingly responsible experience in an academic or independent research organization and five (5) years of administrative experience as a program AVP, department head, and/or principal investigator
- Strong or outstanding national reputation in medical rehabilitation research as indicated by a successful track record of obtaining federal funding for research and a substantial number of peer reviewed publications
- Leads the activities of the TIRR Research Council and TIRR Research Committee.
- Advises the TIRR CEO on matters related to research and assist with investigator and physician recruitment.
- Works with Memorial Hermann Foundation staff to assist with fundraising to support the research programs at TIRR.
- Maintains an active program of rehabilitation research, collaborate with other TIRR Memorial Hermann researchers, and build new collaborative research relationships.
- Knowledge of funding sources for rehabilitation research
- Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships
- Ability to travel

Principal Accountabilities
- Leads the activities of the TIRR Research Council and TIRR Research Committee.
- Advises the TIRR CEO on matters related to research and assist with investigator and physician recruitment.
- Works with Memorial Hermann Foundation staff to assist with fundraising to support the research programs at TIRR.
- Maintains an active program of rehabilitation research, collaborate with other TIRR Memorial Hermann researchers, and build new collaborative research relationships.
- Maintains existing research collaborations and develops new collaborations.
- Supports research activities of TIRR investigators and TIRR clinical staff.
- Maintain an active program of rehabilitation research and funding sources to support rehabilitation research.
- Developing major research initiatives including oversight and direction of the Annual TIRR Innovation Award program.
- Promotes and represents TIRR's mission and interests with high profile public and private agencies, institutions, and professional organizations by representing the scientific goals and interests of TIRR Memorial Hermann at press conferences, meetings, conventions and government events.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
