The Global Business Solutions (GBS) organization unites caring with discovery to create medicines that make life better for people around the world by accelerating value through unique capabilities. The organization is comprised of the GBS centers (Cork, KL, and Mexico City), LCCI (India), Integrated Services and the Strategy/Transformation team. The Strategy/Transformation team is responsible for key strategic projects that fall within the purview of the GBS division. The team works within GBS and with key divisions such as Finance, HR, IT, Procurement, R&D and Commercial on critical pivotal initiatives. The team members lead and support projects related to key “solution areas” such as Commercial, LRL, Financial Reporting and Analytics, Supply Chain and Manufacturing, and intra-GBS Business Transformations (e.g., operating model changes, major business process improvements).
The Associate Director – Centralized Congress Team manager will report to Senior Director of Lilly Meetings and Congresses, and lead the strategy development and implementation of Global, IBU, and US Congresses. This person will lead the day-to-day operations for the Congress team. This includes the supervisory responsibilities of a team of Congress Associates and oversight of the Congress Exhibit Provider/Meeting Planning Companies. Additionally, this role will collaborate across all business units to understand their congress channel, ensure proper resources, serve as point of escalation as necessary, and remove barriers across the organization.

Leadership Responsibilities:
- Responsible for all aspects of the congress strategy and execution.
- Responsible for full compliance and transparency around sponsorship payments.
- Manage supplier’s performance to ensure successful execution of congresses (virtual, face-to-face, hybrid)
- Partner with marketing and medical leaders across functions to develop metrics and dashboards to be used directly with the functions as well as other senior leaders.
- Handle all performance management tasks and development conversations for the Congress Team.
- Train and on-board congress team members.
- Create a cohesive and positive team environment.
- Ensure team members are effectively managing their work to meet expected responsibilities and achieve anticipated results.
- Establish and maintain strategic relationships with all Therapeutic Areas/Business Units while exploring opportunities for continuous business improvements.
- Create and maintain a 3–5-year strategic plan for team in order to support the expanding business.
Operational Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the LMC Process Owner, Compliance, and LMC Center of Excellence to develop process improvements, document creation and standardize where possible.
- Provide oversight of Lilly congress activities to ensure both industry and corporate compliance.
- Provide industry shared learning across the enterprise to keep Lilly at the forefront of the congress and exhibit industry (i.e.: Congress Shared Learning Sessions).
- Work to provide a positive customer experience in all aspects of engagement with exhibits and congresses.
- Partner with the congress Exhibit Vendor to develop, measure, and hold the team accountable to robust metrics in collaboration with brand team and key collaboration partners.
- Partner with finance and the associated team to track and report savings obtained through the congress execution process..
- Collaborate with the Meetings Teams to ensure engagement and clear roles and responsibilities at congress activities.
- Manage and supervise supplier performance to ensure effectiveness, efficiency, and successful strategic management of Congresses (including Exhibit Vendor and Meeting Planning Companies).
Compliance:
- Follow the Global Standards on Meetings and Events, US Policy on Exhibits, Interactions with External Parties, Sponsorship procedures, and all other relevant Lilly policies, standards, and procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge of corporate policies and procedures including Anti-Corruption and Transparency reporting requirements, Ethical Interactions with external Parties, Anti-Corruption and CIA.
- Proactively identify risks and issues and call out as appropriate.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Finance or another Business-related field.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
- Prior manager-level or equivalent experience; supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to operate and manage staff within defined timelines to meet business results.
- Ability to develop and implement strategy across people, processes, tools, and organizations.
- Strong leadership, management, interpersonal, problem-solving, arbitration, influencing, motivational, project management, and analytical thinking skills to use effectively in a team, cross-functional, matrix, and global environment.
- Communicate clearly and succinctly with all audiences and forums through exemplary oral and written communication skills.

- Ability to establish a clear understanding of the distinct accountabilities and expectations of associates.
- Experience in event planning and/or congress management.
- Strong background in various forms of engaging with customers.
- Previous experience partnering with external vendors.
- Working knowledge of compliance issues and regulatory requirements; learning and adhering to Lilly Privacy Program.
- Good solid understanding of technology and tools and evolving technologies and their applications.
- Experience in managing business planning, budgeting, and capacity resourcing.
- Ability to create and maintain external/vendor business relationships.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
