ASSISTANT SPA DIRECTOR POSITION SUMMARY
This position contributes to the success of the Sanctuary Spa by being responsible for smooth daily operations, management and profitability of the spa, fitness, tennis, memberships and retail area. This position provides guidance and coaching to staff, to ensure the positive attainment of goals established by the company.

ASSISTANT SPA DIRECTOR JOB FUNCTIONS
Note: the following duties and responsibilities may not be all-inclusive
- Develop, monitor and review all staffing, programs, budgets and operational guidelines.
- Work closely with the Sales and Marketing Director to create and/or establish media needs, marketing campaigns and targeted sales efforts to develop strong name recognition.
- Work with the Spa Group Sales Manager to coordinate and schedule tours and services for VIP’s, media visits and special events.
- Be involved with all spa related public relations opportunities.
- Remain current with industry standards and cutting edge information in the spa business.
- Work with the Retail Manager in the development and marketing of the Spa Boutique.
- Provide support, direction and management development opportunities (on-going feedback as well as performance reviews) for the spa team.
- Ensure compliance with all regulations and policies that are required for the spa including service provider licensing and health requirements.
- Oversee the handling of special requests of guests, members and, when appropriate, staff.
- Create retail and spa booking incentives.
- Develop, improve and maintain menu of services.
- Ensure that each employee has the proper tools to successfully complete their job.
- Ensure spa cleanliness and proper maintenance.
- Assist with forecasting and reviewing of monthly P&L analysis as well as participate in annual budgeting.
- Holds Spa and Manager on Duty responsibilities.
- Performs any other duties as assigned by the Spa Director
ASSISTANT SPA DIRECTOR SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out supervisor responsibilities in accordance with organization’s policies/applicable law.
- Approve scheduling along with the Spa Director to ensure proper staff coverage based upon business demands.
- Interview, hire and maintain the highest qualified, motivated personnel.
- Provide leadership to all associates to ensure high quality, knowledgeable personnel.
- Implement recognition programs, performance evaluations as well as coaching/counseling of spa associates.
- Ensure Standard Operating Procedures are implemented and enforced for each position.
- Ability to identify, address and resolve conflict.
ASSISTANT SPA DIRECTOR JOB REQUIREMENTS
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he/she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Ability to maintain a pleasant disposition and work smoothly in high stress work environment.
- Superior organizational, multi-tasking and problem resolution skills.
- Enforce all Spa and Resort policies.
- Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly.
- Excellent telephone etiquette and excellent/professional communication skills required.
- Take the initiative to make contributions to the department and resort while maintaining positive working relationships with co-workers.
- Promote excellent guest relations
- Must be a goal oriented individual with an exceptional eye for detail, and a passion for the spa and wellness industry.
ASSISTANT SPA DIRECTOR PHYSICAL TASKS
- Ability to sit continuously to perform essential job functions.
- Requires extending arms, bending and stooping to reach materials.
- Flexible and long hours often required
- Adhere to attire, personal hygiene and appearance standards at all times.
- Maintain good safety habits and report unsafe or hazardous conditions to your manager.
- Practice teamwork and effective communication with manager/supervisor/co-workers.
- Always maintain the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and positive attitude toward all.
Education
High School Diploma or G.E.D. Equivalent.
Bachelors Degree Required.
Related Work Experience
Minimum of 5 years managerial experience in hospitality & customer service required, preferably in resort spa setting.
SpaSoft Software experience preferred.
Required Knowledge
Knowledge in the areas of massage/body treatment, aesthetics, fitness, salon and retail.
Proficient in Microsoft applications such as:
- Word, Excel, Outlook.
