Job Summary
The Department of Psychology at Purdue University Northwest invites applications for a
Program Coordinator/Verified Course Sequence Coordinator at the rank of Assistant Professor of
Practice (non-tenure track). The coordinator will work to develop a standalone BCaBA certification program. A minimum of one year of related practical/professional experience and/or training and higher education teaching experience is preferred. Exceptional computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite, Google applications and Adobe Connect meeting technology is preferred. Experience with Brightspace education software is preferred. A demonstrated track record of excellent communication, organizational and time management skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision is preferred.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Hold a Master’s degree or higher from an accredited higher education institution
  • Hold BCBA or BCBA-D certification
  • Higher education teaching experience with behavior-analytic coursework
  • Familiarity with ABAI’s VCS system

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience teaching undergraduate psychology courses (e.g., Introduction to

Psychology)

  • Experience with submitting the VCS application for approval and renewal

Position Responsibilities

  • Develop curriculum, and Verified Course Sequence (verified by ABAI) for the Board

Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst® (BCaBA®)

  • Submit VCS initial application to ABAI for approval and for renewal, thereafter, as required by ABAI
  • Recruit students and serve as the point of contact between VCS students and faculty and

ABAI VCS

  • Communicate coursework requirements to students
  • Hold orientation meetings with incoming students in their first semester
  • Communicate requirements and information from ABAI to the Department of

Psychology and to other university departments/offices, as required

  • Submit curriculum and get approval from the Purdue University Northwest’s (PNW)

Faculty Senate

  • Request approval for the new certification program from Purdue’s Board of Trustees
  • Teach courses in the sequence once approved
  • Teach undergraduate courses in the Department of Psychology, as needed
  • Make recommendations to hire faculty/instructors as needed
  • Attend university, department, and faculty meetings as requested/required

Position Responsibilities, continued

  • Manage program’s day-to-day activities (e.g., evaluating student and faculty performance, resolving student and faculty complaints/issues, advising and supervising students)
  • Write letters certifying students’ readiness to begin internships and qualification for certification
  • Review transfer credit applications
  • Remain informed on certification issues and policies
  • Maintain own certification
  • Ensure that PNW’s BCaBA Certification Program (including but not limited to its verified course sequence and faculty) remains in good standing with ABAI
  • Regularly review and update program policies and procedures
  • Additional duties as needed
