Location: fredonia, NY Category: Faculty Posted On: Mon Apr 17 2023 Job Description:The Communication Disorders and Sciences Department within the College of Education, Health Sciences, and Human Services is home to numerous faculty and staff members dedicated to providing students with engaging and meaningful classes for future educators.
Fredonia seeks an Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator to assist in the review of the campus' proposed RN to BS in Nursing degree and shepherd the program through the university and state approval processes. The Program Coordinator of the RN to BS in Nursing Program is responsible for recruitment, retention and oversight of students in the campus' proposed RN to BS in Nursing Program. The Program Coordinator will ensure that students will be able to meet the BS in Nursing Program Learning Outcomes through multiple learning modalities, including didactic and clinical experiences. The Program Coordinator is required to promote the mission of SUNY Fredonia's proposed program as part of the CDS department and participate fully in the governance of the department, including curriculum development and evaluation, and implementation of the systematic evaluation plan for the campus' proposed nursing program.
Integrating principles from professional nursing practice the proposed RN to BS in Nursing Program will promote the maturation of licensed registered nurses with an Associate Degree to practice according to the educational standards of the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing and the practice standards of the American Nurses Association.
Rank is commensurate with university teaching and scholarship experience and expertise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Reporting to the Chair, the successful candidate will:
Reviews, evaluates, and modifies campus' existing nursing curricula, and shepherd the curriculum through internal and state approval processes;
Advances the mission, goals and outcomes of the RN to BS in Nursing program;
Handles confidential information with tact, discretion and in compliance with FERPA regulations;
Coordinates Coordinates and teaches selected transition courses in the RN to BS in Nursing Program, including classroom, and clinical supervision of RN to BS in Nursing students;
Promotes a supportive learner-centered culture among faculty and student colleagues;
Practices reflective teaching and nursing;
Organizes and coordinates supervision and evaluation of student clinical practice in the proposed RN to BS in Nursing program;
Advises and mentors RN to BS in Nursing students;
Participates in departmental and University faculty governance;
Employs experiential learning techniques using a variety of interactive, student-focused pedagogical approaches, and computer-based teaching applications;
Demonstrates current practice expertise;
Uses an organized approach to planning and coordination designed to promote achievement of the RN to BS in Nursing learning outcomes by students individually and in the aggregate;
Uses reliable and valid methods to measure achievement of individual students and students in the aggregate;
Contributes to nursing as a discipline and the profession at state and national levels;
Embraces a diverse and inclusive learning environment, where uniqueness of beliefs, backgrounds, experience, talents, capabilities and ways of living are welcomed and leveraged for understanding the human condition.

Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master of Science in Nursing from a nationally accredited program and university;
Unencumbered professional license as an RN with eligibility for licensure in the State of New York;
Minimum of five years clinical practice experience, and current clinical practice experience and expertise;
Demonstrated understanding of the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) standards;
Trajectory of scholarly work and service commensurate with stage of faculty development role;
Evidence of inclusive multicultural teaching, advising, supervising, and other professional practices.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Breadth of expertise in academic nursing with national level contributions in the field;
Grant-writing, program evaluation, or other academic program-level experiences;
National certification in a relevant area of specialization;
Five years' experience in collegiate nursing education including an understanding of experiential teaching/learning concepts and approaches;
Three years' experience in higher administration in nursing or nursing education;
A doctoral degree in nursing is preferred.

Ability to participate in both clinical and classroom teaching;

This is a full-time, term appointed, tenure track position beginning Fall 2023.
