JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State , one of the top public universities in the country with almost 75,000 undergraduates and more than 750,000 alumni across the world, is seeking an Assistant Director of Design to support the marketing and communications efforts of the Office of Enrollment Management .

Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Assistant Director of Design will be responsible for:

• Coordinating with the Director on photo and video strategy

• Designing and updating print pieces for the Undergraduate Admissions Office

• Designing and updating presentations for the Undergraduate Admissions Office

• Providing recommendations on new presentation platform options and potential uses

• Designing social media graphics in collaboration with the Social Media Manager

• Designing web-based materials in collaboration with the Associate Director of Marketing

• Staying current with industry standards for graphic design, photography, and videography

• Participating in brainstorming and ideation sessions

• Maintaining University brand and editorial standards

• Supervising one or more employees

• Performing other duties as assigned
  

This position has the potential to be performed as a hybrid of remote and on-site work at Penn State University Park.

Education and experience:

Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree or higher plus eight years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience for a level. Additional experience and/or education and competencies are required for higher-level jobs.

Qualifications:

• Strong understanding of graphic design principles and accessibility best practices

• Demonstrated experience with content creation software (Adobe Creative Suite) and presentation platforms (Powerpoint)

• Ability to develop creative design solutions

• Previous experience with photography and/or videography, including photo and video editing

• Ability to multitask and prioritize

• Supervision experience preferred
