Binghamton University Auxiliary Services oversees a variety of contracted and internal operations on campus, with the goal of providing excellent services while optimizing revenue generating opportunities.

Binghamton's auxiliary operations include Binghamton University Dining Services (BUDS), which partners with Sodexo to deliver quality meals with superior service to the faculty, staff and students on campus. BUDS works with the Student Culinary Council, a student-led organization dedicated to continuously improving the dining experience on campus in exciting and new ways.

In addition, Auxiliary Services manages the relationships between the campus and partners such as banking services (Visions Federal Credit Union), the Binghamton Bookstore (Barnes & Noble), the Campus Pre-School, pouring rights (Coca-Cola), vending services, laundry services, Campus Food Pantry, and BU Acres, the campus farm. Auxiliary Services also oversees the Binghamton Auxiliary Services Corporation (BASC), a non-profit corporation.

In May 2022 the Binghamton University Foundation purchased the Binghamton Tennis Center. An affiliate of BASC (BASC Mill Street, LLC) has assumed management of the center's operations and oversight of upcoming renovations. The Binghamton Tennis Center is the official year-round home of the Binghamton University Bearcats Division I varsity tennis teams, and remains open to the public, offering contracts, memberships, tournaments, clinics, lessons and more.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Auxiliary Services is expanding the team and looking for someone who can adapt to change, is open to innovation and who can work both independently and collaboratively with multiple partners on and off campus. The assistant director will provide leadership and oversight of Auxiliary Services core business operations which will include, but not be limited to, management of transactional and functional processes, fiscal and regulatory compliance, and supporting collaborative relationships with campus partners.

Responsibilities include:

  • Management of processes, data and report generation using Auxiliary Services software programs.
  • Process Auxiliary Services and Binghamton Auxiliary Service Corporation vouchers, purchase orders, contracts, reconciliations and invoices.
  • Responsible for compliance, reporting, issue resolution and reconciliation of Auxiliary accounts.
  • Assist associate director in identifying, prioritizing and executing service requests for facility compliance, repair, renovation, upgrades and preventative maintenance in support of Auxiliary Services partner operations to ensure accessibility and quality of experience.
  • Administration of back-end processes for initiatives such as the bookstore's First Day Inclusive Access program, Auxiliary Services equipment asset management and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Maintain standards of housekeeping, maintenance and repairs commensurate with the preservation and stewardship of property, safety, functional use and aesthetic values in all auxiliary operations.
  • Develop and manage the Auxiliary Services Quality Assurance / Key Performance Indicators (KPI) processes and feedback loops.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, accounting or related field of study.
  • 2 years of experience in business operations, financial management or related field.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with strong customer service orientation.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in use of Microsoft Excel and similar programs.
  • Able to plan, organize, establish and maintain multiple tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving and resolution skills, detail oriented.
  • Cultural competence with the ability to demonstrate leadership in a dynamic community with a diverse student body.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in business or a related field of study.
  • Lean 6 Sigma or like certification for efficiency and process improvement.
