    POSITION:
    Assistant / Associate Principal – Building Operations

    START DATE:
    July 1, 2023 (12-month Administrator contract)

    SALARY/BENEFITS:
    Commensurate with experience

    REQUIREMENTS:
    Professional Educators License (PEL) and administrative endorsement.

    DEFINITION:
    The Assistant/Associate Principal positions share responsibility for South & North Building operations and special projects as assigned by the Principal.
    The Assistant/Associate Principal reports directly to the Principal on matters of building operations and special projects.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
    The Assistant/Associate Principals are responsible for the implementation of all Board of Education policies and administrative procedures as they relate to key functions.
    The Assistant/Associate Principal may make recommendations for policy revisions, deletions, etc. to the Principal.

    KEY FUNCTIONS:

    A. South & North Building Operations:
    Authority/Responsibility – Supervises daily operations.

    Representative Activities:
    • Affords ongoing support and assistance to faculty and staff.
    • Monitors staff and students at the South and North Building with regard to Board policy, district expectations, rules and regulations.
    • Maintains awareness of issues concerning the physical plant and general daily operations, making adjustments as necessary to accommodate needs specific to the building.
    • Makes recommendations to the Principal on behalf of building operations.
    • Participates in the Improvement of Instruction process as assigned by the Principal.
    • Completes teacher observations in compliance with PERA regulations.
    • Completes observations of instructional assistants in compliance with the HFEO agreement.
    • Evaluates support staff in compliance with agreements.
    • Participates in strategic initiatives as assigned by the Principal.

    B. Student Registration
    Authority/Responsibility - Supervise and evaluate programs and personnel in the operation of student registration and enrollment.

    Representative Activities:
    • Plans and coordinates back to school book and fee process.
    • Plans and coordinates returning student registration.
    • Facilitates incoming 9th grade registration process.
    • Facilitates enrollment of new student registration.
    • Serves as liaison with the Office of the Registrar and provides necessary supervision to ensure compliance with student records laws.
    • Coordinates and facilitates student transfers to and from external placements for general education students.
    • Coordinates transportation for outplaced students.
    • Completes ISBE data submissions related to registration, graduation and other reporting requirements.
    • Supervises student health record compliance processes.
    • Coordinates and facilitates enrollment process for McKinney-Vento students.
    • Provides required services for McKinney-Vento students.
    • Responsible for McKinney-Vento legal compliance and necessary procedures.

    C. Residency:
    Authority/Responsibility – Supervises the residency monitoring program.

    Representative Activities:
    • Develops and implements procedures for student residency.
    • Supervises the Registrar in identifying accurate residency documentation.
    • Assigns cases to residency investigators and supervises progress of cases.
    • Maintains accurate records on students that violate residency policy.
    • Works with the Attorney, Principal and Superintendent to identify students that are not legal residents of the school district – initiating necessary action to remove such students from the school attendance roster.
    • Makes annual case status reports to the Principal and Superintendent.
    • Represents the District during residency hearings and other proceedings.
    • Articulates with feeder districts in matters regarding Residency.
    • Manages CLEAR software and ensures compliance with procedures.

    D. Student Services:
    Authority/Responsibility – Supervises and monitors as assigned by the Principal.

    Representative Activities:
    • Supervises the Deans Office and student discipline processes and procedures.
    • Coordinates and supervises the After-School Library Program.
    • Acts as the appeals office for parents on disciplinary issues. Acts as the appeals office for parents on disciplinary issues. Parent/Student appeals are heard in the following order: Deans Office > Assistant/Associate Principal North/South > Principal.
    • Supervises and evaluates the Health Services Offices.
    • Supervises the alternative to expulsion program (DELTA) and the In-School Suspension Program.
    • Implements Section 504 program.

    E. Special Projects:
    Authority/Responsibility – Supervises and monitors as assigned by the Principal.

    Representative Activities:
    • Oversees the management of vehicles used for residency and security purposes.
    • Supervises and evaluates the Text Book Center Coordinator and distribution processes.
    • Supervises the After-School Library Programs.
    • Serves as the District DCFS Liaison.
    • Special Projects as assigned by the Principal.
    • Serves as the Summer School Principal and implements summer school programs.
    • Coordinates the Career Fair and other programs.
    • Other duties as assigned.
