Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Area Manager foresees anything that hinders their area from performing at the highest level. The Area Manager maintains a stock of spare parts, tools, foreseeing what is needed if something goes wrong and anything critical needed that affects their area of production. Using critical thinking skills, the Area Manager will improve upon anything in their area to increase production and reduce costs. The Area Manager will ensure that all employees under their direct supervision receive the best knowledge to perform their duties to the highest level of satisfaction and in the safest possible way.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts cost-benefit analyses to determine value. Determines whether budget
    proposals are compliant. Defends budget recommendations and developing a final
    budgetary agreement with management. Monitors spending to ensure it remains within
    budget.
    • Planning, organizing, staffing, leading and controlling headcount in assigned
    department. Efficiently utilize people, equipment, and materials to meet plant
    requirements for safety, environment, and quality. Pinpointing current and inevitable
    vacancies within the group. Interviewing shortlisted candidates and selecting the most
    suitable individual. Documenting and reporting on employees' performance. implementing
    strategies to develop and retain employees.
    • Improvement of production process through effective use of data and execution of
    projects. Keep abreast of work requests for planned/emergency breakdowns and
    observed issues in the electronic asset management system. Coordinate outside
    contractors and supplemental support when necessary, including repairs, installations,
    security, fire prevention, loss control, etc. Establish and participate in root cause
    problem solving techniques with Process Technician involvement. Liaising with other
    managers to formulate objectives and understand requirements.
    • Responsible for ensuring process and product quality metrics are met, meeting volume
    targets, development of and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
    as necessary.
    • Demonstrates agility and is able to navigate and adapt through changing complex
    conditions to produce successful outcomes. Accepts responsibility for driving
    continuous improvement efforts and for ensuring a safe working environment

Qualifications

  • A BSc/Ba in a relevant field or equivalent education and work experience.
    • Proven experience as a manager with 2 years leadership experience preferred.
    • Deep knowledge of production and mechanical maintenance
    • Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations
    • Knowledge of performance evaluation and budgeting concepts
    • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and process improvement techniques and principles
    and an ability to perform root cause analysis is required.
    • Proficiency in MS Office and other applications related to the job required.
    • Outstanding communication ability with strong decision-making skills and a resultsdriven approach with attention to detail
    • Excellent organizational and leaderships skills
    • Valid driver’s license

Working Conditions

  • Must be able to work in outdoor environments and occasionally in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees
  • Willing and able to work in a hot, humid, cold and noisy industrial environment
  • Willing and able to maintain strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, to include wearing safety equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day
  • Willing and able to work around moving equipment and machinery
  • Willing and able to pull and lift, up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
