We seek an Area Group Sales Manager with a keen knowledge of market competitiveness for the tour & travel, SMERF, and leisure markets for a 1500-room Marriott Cluster.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Growing revenue, increasing market share, and finding new business in the group sector.
  • Increasing hotel revenue by assisting an advanced level of producing group business through direct solicitation via aggressive prospecting, making presentations, developing contracts, negotiating, and closing sales.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales goals as designated by the Director of Sales
  • Participate in business review meetings, training, trade shows, community events, and industry meetings
  • Maintain hotel relationships with key accounts to increase customer satisfaction and account revenue
  • Outside sales, entertaining clients, prospecting, and cold calling
  • Daily prospecting for a new business to maximize revenue
  • Daily follow-up sales calls and responses to inquiries are required
  • Responsible for implementing and maintaining sales action plans for the development of the designated market segments

Job Requirements:

  • Prior Marriott Hotel Sales experience required
  • Excellent solicitation practices and existing customer database
  • Proficient experience with the Cvent platform, proposals, marketing, and prospecting
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing to provide clear direction to all departments in the hotel to ensure a high quality of service to customers
  • Knowledgeable of NYC, local area, and local competitive hotels and their marketing sales strategies

NOTE: For applicants working in NYC, the anticipated compensation range for the position is $85 to $95 per year. The salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors, including but not limited to years of experience within the job, years of experience within the required industry, education, etc.
