This opportunity entails being responsible for performing structural engineering tasks such as research for code and project criteria, design calculations, quantity estimates, and detailing and design for buildings. Creates analysis models and performs design engineering during all phases of design, including construction administration.
- Structural engineering analysis and design of building structures including sport facilities, airport facilities, transit facilities and more in support of HNTB’s national architectural practice.
- Responsibilities include structural engineering analysis and design of framing and foundation systems for steel, concrete, post-tensioned concrete, masonry, and wood building frame systems.
- Construction phase responsibilities include structural engineering services for response to construction questions, review of contractor submittals and construction site observations.
- HNTB’s project types offer excellent opportunities to grow as a structural engineer by working on complex and high profile projects with experienced architectural and structural teams.
What You’ll Do:
- Performs structural engineering tasks, such as research for code and project criteria, design calculations, quantity estimates and detailing.
- Prepares design drawings and/or specifications and construction phase engineering tasks under the supervision of senior engineers.
- Communicates and coordinates tasks with other project team disciplines.
- Technically involved in the design of building structures that may include performing detailed checking of engineering work done by others or general coordination of specific design aspects into a project.
- Conducts investigative analyses toward completion of assigned design tasks.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering or Civil Engineering
- 2 years related experience
- EIT
- Revit skills
What You'll Bring:
- EIT
- Experience with structural analysis software such as RISA 3d, SAP 2000, ETABS, Enercalc, TEDS
- REVIT skills
- BS or MS in Architectural or Civil Engineering with emphasis in structural engineering

The approximate pay range for California is $75,645.81 - $128,941.71. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
