Job description
Responsibility of the Agency Attorney will be to support and advise on the design, development, implementation, and monitoring of programs and services in the attorney coverage area, particularly regarding legal matters, court, and courtroom performance, and relationships with court personnel. Attorney will build positive working relationships with Saint Francis Ministries, staff, courts, and court personnel in the attorney coverage area. The Attorney will be directly involved in providing legal services in cases involving legal or systems matters that are complex relative to the capacity of case managers. leadership, and courts in the attorney coverage area.
- Initiates weekly communication with Saint Francis Ministries program and administrative leadership on the design, development, implementation, and monitoring of programs, service, and practices, particularly regarding legal risks and trends, court performance, and relationships with court personnel.
- Regularly monitors and addresses legal risks and trends, courtroom dynamics, legal practices, and practice expectations in courts located in assigned counties, conveying the same to Saint Francis Ministries program leadership.
- Regularly initiates review of the quality of Saint Francis Ministries court reports, Saint Francis Ministries courtroom performance, and Saint Francis Ministries relationships with court partners.
- Conducts research and writing as needed or assigned.
- Elicits formal and informal feedback from Judges, Guardian ad Litems, District/County Attorneys, Parent Attorneys, DCF, CRB, CSOs, and CASA, through regular contact.
- Builds and maintains positive working relationships with courts and court personnel including Judges, Guardian ad Litems, District/County Attorneys, Parent Attorneys, DCF, CRB, CSOs, and CASA.
- Initiates positive and professional working relationships with court personnel and program leadership/Saint Francis Ministries employees and maintains the same.
- Facilitates a d hoc or standing judicial meetings, or other meetings, with court partners on a regular basis.
- Provides timely responses to inquiries and requests for assistance by court personnel on case specific matter.
- Provides timely legal advice on complex cases to Saint Francis Ministries field staff.
- Acts as liaison between court personnel and Saint Francis Ministries on complex cases.
- Responds timely to legal matters and appears in court on behalf of Saint Francis Ministries regularly.
- Initiates collaboration with Saint Francis Ministries program and administrative leadership to ensure that Saint Francis Ministries staff receive necessary legal training, performance feedback, and legal support.
- Monitors developments in federal and state child welfare and related statutes, case law, and regulations and trains staff on changes.
- Provides formal and informal training and education on complex or emerging legal issues to Saint Francis Ministries program and administrative leadership.
- Informs Vice-President of legal services of critical legal matters, trends, opportunities, and events; participate in strategic assessment, planning, and implementation as a member of the Legal Department.
- Keeps Regional Vice President informed of weekly activities.
- Partners with Saint Francis Ministries program and administrative leadership in assessment, planning and interventions around specific challenges that create opportunities for strategic interventions around legal and court priorities and practices.
- Initiates regular conversations with Saint Francis Ministries Performance Improvement and Quality Assurance staff to work with Saint Francis Ministries field staff on improving contract outcomes.
- Implements Saint Francis Ministries policies and follows directives as required. Follows and adheres to all pertinent Saint Francis Ministries Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), rules, personnel policies, and procedures; related accreditation and licensure standards; and federal, state, and local rules, statutes, regulations and contractual terms.
- Reports unusual incidents through appropriate Risk Management, clinical and safety channels.
- Ensures clients' rights are protected.
- Is knowledgeable of, and follows, all safety procedures.
- Kansas law license required.

Pay: $67,600.00 - $101,420.80 per year
