Job description

A fun and rewarding part-time job for fluent Spanish speakers.

How ‘bout we get right to the point? Our small, family-owned business is located in San Antonio, Texas. We may be biased, but we are pretty sure we have the best Early Childhood Center around. And, we really believe that we are making a BIG impact on the future citizens of San Antonio. The job is not all roses and puppy dogs — there are some pluses, and there are some minuses.

Let’s get the minuses out of the way first:

  • Depending on what age group you work with, you might have to change dirty diapers. But, honestly, you get used to it after about a week.
  • You won’t get rich at this job. The pay starts at $12.50/hour. It can be some extra spending money, for sure. However, if you are seeking a job to support a household, then this fun and rewarding job may not work for you.

Now let’s talk about the good stuff:

We have three locations in San Antonio so you can pick the one that’s most convenient. Okay, so that part is maybe not the greatest, but there are some truly great things.

We only speak Spanish here. Don’t speak English? No problem. Want to practice your Spanish so you don’t start forgetting it? We’ve got you covered.

You’ll be free in the mornings. Whether you’re in school, taking care of your kids, or getting your beauty sleep, you won’t be required to work in the mornings. If you want to help in the mornings for extra pay from time to time, there will certainly be opportunities; just let us know.

Free food. All employees are welcome to eat lunch on the house. Our kitchen staff prepares a delicious, home-cooked meal every day for the children and staff. Most of the meals are “Latino”, like picadillo, caldo de pollo, and albondigas. Our Enchiladas are the crowd favorite!

We offer a 401K with company matching! An opportunity to start saving for your future? Yes, please!

The work is fun and fast-paced. You will be working directly with an experienced Lead Teacher, helping him/her to run a dynamic classroom and loving on adorable children. You will have the opportunity to acquire new skills and, if you’re interested, become a Lead Teacher one day yourself.

You don’t need to be skilled at dancing, karaoke, or Pictionary, but you will likely be doing all of those things. Every month, we do something fun as a team. We’re a family and we’ll celebrate just about anything, from Día de los Reyes to International Friendship Day to National Sandwich Day!

We love to celebrate with the children, too! Picture colorful and lively Latino-inspired events to celebrate Rodeo, Fiesta San Antonio, Día de los Muertos, and more!

Now, let’s talk about the job requirements:

  • You need to be the type person who finds joy in working with children.
  • You need to be a person who loves to deliver remarkable experiences to others. Do you feel good when you make other people feel good?
  • You need to be a good communicator and a good listener. Listening to your students is just as important as listening to your co-workers and supervisor.
  • You need to be flexible. A go-with-the-flow attitude around here goes a long way.
  • You need to have patience.
  • You need to work hard, and do things right the first time. You don’t need to race through work only to get things done halfway.
  • Whether you are shy and quiet or super outgoing, that is totally cool. We are not looking for one or the other. We are just looking for good peope with good energy.

You must be able and willing to follow instructions. In fact, just to prove that you are, after you apply for this position, send us an email to jobs@pineappleschool.com and type “Suena bien esta oportunidad” in the subject line. Yep, that’s our little trick to sort out the people who blanket send their resume to anyone and everyone, from the folks (that’s you) who are truly interested in this position.

But what we DON’T expect is perfection or existing skills for you to qualify for this job. We can teach you that. When you have questions, you will find the answers.

We are looking to bring our new colleague on board as soon as possible, but we will spend the necessary time to find the best fit both in abilities and culturally. One thing that will give you a BIG leg up (but is optional) is to send a quick video in along with your resume. In your unscripted video tell us why you think you’re perfect for this job. This is purely for us to get a sense of your personality. If you decide not to send a video (that’s ok), please tell us why you chose not to send in a video. We can’t wait to meet you!!!
