Northfield Mount Hermon seeks a dynamic individual to provide extensive professional and administrative support for the Dean of Students and Associate Deans. The position provides program support and serves as a critical liaison between the dean of students, associate deans of students, parents, students, and the wider Northfield Mount Hermon community.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provides administrative support for the functions of the Dean of Students’ office, including word processing, proofing and mailing of correspondence, data and file management, scheduling and organization of meetings, and the maintenance of calendars, and all administrative matters regarding discipline.
  • Organizes charter bus travel to and from school for students during vacation times
  • Organizes housing and advising data
  • Maintains active communication with other school offices, especially college counseling, the work office, admissions, the academic office and health services, coordinating shared tasks. Notifies appropriate departments and faculty of students out on leave or special permission. Creates and maintains various lists of faculty and students and disseminates them to the NMH community.
  • Supports the work of the dorm heads by providing supplies, student lists, and forms. Oversees the tracking and completion of yearly parental permissions as well as weekly permissions for students who are off campus for the weekend.
  • Arranges meetings, dinners/luncheons, travel plans, dorm head and student leader functions.
  • Trains new administrative staff in the operations and procedures of the Deans’ Office.

Qualifications:

The successful applicant will have an Associate’s degree, experience providing administrative support at a high level, interest in working with a diverse student population and outstanding organizational, written, communication, and interpersonal skills. Additional qualifications include the ability to work collaboratively with a team, as well as being a self-starter capable of working independently. A high level of knowledge and comfort with computers, Microsoft Office and Google Suite is required.
