The Upward Bound Project ACE (Achieving Academic & Career Excellence) Program is designed to provide opportunities for fundamental support to participants in their preparation for college entrance. The objective is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and graduate from institutions of post-secondary education. Our goal is to recruit participants into the Upward Bound program, retain them, graduate them and prepare them for post-secondary education admittance and graduation.
The Opportunity:

Our goal is to recruit participants into the Upward Bound program, retain them, graduate them and prepare them for post-secondary education admittance and graduation.
Responsibilities:
- Instruct high school students in writing, grammar and related English Language Arts content areas required for the ACT exam.
- Designs and facilitates differentiated and personalized learning goals and activities that follow a coherent sequence, are aligned to instructional goals, and engage students.
- Conduct practice tests to track progress, identify areas of improvement and help set goals for exam preparation.
- Identify student needs through active listening techniques and questioning strategies; provide students with positive and constructive feedback.
- Document students’ daily progress for entry into Blumen database and prepare daily lessons.
- Supervise students on designated field trips and for lunch meal breaks during UCF residential week.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High energy and passionate about student success.
- Strong commitment to working in a collaborative environment.
- Help students understand and use apply effective learning strategies.
- Help students develop individual learning goals and identify steps to reaching those goals.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with a diverse range of high school students in an academic and/or community setting.

- This is a one-year time-limited funded position. Employment is subject to the availability of funding and may cease at the time funding for this employment is depleted.
- Must pass Level 1 and Level 2 background check.
- Must be eligible to obtain CPR/First Aide certification upon hire or provide proof of current/unexpired CPR/First Aide certification.
