Overview: New Directions Housing Corporation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation, has been serving Louisville and Southern Indiana for over 50 years. Position Summary: Under the limited supervision of the Director of Corporate Accounting, the Accounting Associate is responsible for the operational aspects of the agency’s accounting and bookkeeping practices and procedures. Provides support for the Director of Corporate Accounting and Chief Financial Officer.

Schedule: Full-Time, 40 hours per week (M-F) with schedule to be established at time of hire.
FLSA Status: Salary, Exempt
Salary Range: $45,000 - $55,000 annualized

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Maintains a working knowledge of the agency’s accounting system.

2. Primary Accounts Payable entry person.

3. Codes all A/P invoices that are not property related.

4. Codes all administrative invoices.

5. Enters Utility ACH’s as manual checks in the accounting system.

6. Prepare and file annual IRS Forms 1099.

7. Backup for check writing.

8. Assists with the bookkeeping functions; A/P invoices, A/R deposits, miscellaneous billing, and associated filing.

9. Verifies, allocates, and posts details of business transactions to subsidiary accounts.

10. Assists in preparation of vouchers, invoices, statements, reports, and other records; reviews for accuracy.

11. Reconciles and balances accounts.

12. Manages the current files of vendors, sub-contractors including insurance certificates, W-9 forms, loans, etc.

13. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications, Experience & Skills:

· Associate’s degree in Accounting, Bookkeeping or related field; a combination of education, training and experience that results in demonstrated competency to perform the work may be substituted

· Minimum of 2 years bookkeeping experience

· Experience with automated bank reconciliations

· Advance computer proficiency; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, payroll and accounting systems (YARDI experience a plus)

· Excellent oral and written communication; strong interpersonal skills

· Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities

· Maintain the confidentiality of any information s/he encounters

· Successfully complete any required pre-employment screening, including any required drug test

· Physical Demands: Incumbent spends significant amount of time sitting at computer terminal, on the telephone, talking and listening to others, reading, closely inspecting information-requiring both close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

· Work Environment: This work is performed in an office setting.

· Machines, Tools & Equipment: Computer and various applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Yardi, etc.), printer, photocopy machine, fax machine, telephone, automobiles, cell phones, calculator, shredder.
