This position may pay more than the minimum proposed salary listed above, depending on experience and/or qualifications of the selected candidate.
The Academic Advisor II, complies with all state, system, and university policies, regulations, rules, procedures, guidelines, and directives in a timely manner and adhere to confidentiality policies (FERPA).
Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Director of Compliance with individual team certifications; Performs administrative duties that are essential to the daily functioning of the office by monitoring overall NCAA Compliance; assists student-athletes with establishing and advising of semester and annual goals in addition to implementing and action plan to achieve their goal.
  • Serves as the coordinator of certification, working hand in hand with the registrar's office to ensure all student-athletes for the 18 sports available are certified to compete based on NCAA requirements.
  • Provide adequate academic advising to assigned student-athletes. In concert, with the Compliance Officer, ensures that all student-athletes meet all applicable university standards, policies and procedures and ascertains that the program is in compliance with the rules and regulations, established by the SWAC, NCAA, Faculty Athletics Council and the Board of Regents of the Texas A&M University System.
  • Attend state, regional and national athletic academic advising professional meetings and specialized training sessions; attend regular meeting with Office of Athletic Compliance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience.
Required Knowledge Skills & Abilities:
  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
  • Knowledge of student information systems, degree planning, and degree audits.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Other Requirements:
  • May work some evenings and weekends.
