Job description
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Under the direction of the ECI Program Director, the ECI Medical Records Technician is responsible for the maintenance and processing of all ECI records (paper and electronic), including periodic and systematic review to promote program compliance with required governmental policies. The Technician assures timely request, receipt, and filing of medical, educational and other reports, as well as follow-up on requested delinquent reports as needed. The Technician is responsible to the ECI Office Manager but must work in coordination with the ECI Program Director & Helen Farabee Centers Medical Records Director. Regular attendance and punctuality are necessary requirements. Must have the ability to operate a motor vehicle in instances such as answering a subpoena for reviewing records in a court of law.

Education, Training, and Experience
High school graduate (or equivalent) with clerical (including computer) training. One year of experience working with medical records is preferred, as is experience with EXCEL spreadsheets. Must have valid drivers license and be insurable to drive Center vehicles. Must pass all Center mandated trainings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to read and proof correspondence, reports, and forms.
- Ability to write memos, emails, and letters with accurate spelling and grammatical structure.
- Ability to perform basic mathematics skills with accuracy.
- Must have strong communication skills (talking, listening, exchange or ideas, etc.) to understand and be understood in order to perform the following duties with favorable effect on staff, consumers, Board and community.
- Ability for accurate handling & fingering (80-100%) is necessary (sort papers, keyboard, 10 key, etc.)
- Skilled in the use of personal and network computers, word processing, database, and office management software.
- Ability to use copy machine, fax machine, computer and printer, pager and telephone
- May be required to lift 2-10 pounds occasionally
- Must have good visual acuity, depth perception, and an adequate field of vision
- Must be able to sit for long periods of time
- Must have good fine motor skills
